Imagine If…
In today’s Bible Reading plan we opened to Philippians 2, a chapter that challenges us to model Christ-like love and humility in our daily lives; our actions, attitudes, and activities
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
(Phil. 2:13)
Imagine if we truly lived out of this belief, holding in our hearts and echoing out into the world through our actions the belief that God is at work in us according to his good purpose.
Imagine if we truly considered others above ourselves; how many conflicts would dissolve, how many divisions would heal, how much love would take root in our communities. (Phil. 2:3–4)
Imagine if we stopped grumbling and arguing; how different our witness would look in a world quick to complain. (Phil. 2:14–15)
Imagine if we embraced humility like Christ; how pride would lose its grip on us, how service would be not a burden but a joy, how the kingdom would grow through our surrendered lives. (Phil. 2:5–8)
Imagine if we poured ourselves out for others; how the good news would spread, how joy and hope would rise. (Phil. 2:17–18)
Imagine if we pursued unity of mind and heart; how bitterness would fade, how generosity would grow, and how the world would see a living picture of Christ’s love. (Phil. 2:2)
The amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and challenging thing is that
we are not simply called to imagine this life, we are called to live it.
We are called to be the light that shines in the darkness, to be the servants who follow Christ’s example, to be the people through whom God’s good purpose takes shape in the world.
What would it look like today, in the ordinary places of our lives; at home, at work, in our neighborhoods we chose humility over pride, joy over complaint, and unity over division? What if the mindset of Christ shaped every word, every choice, every step?
This is not beyond us, because it is not left to us alone.
Our role is to surrender, to trust, to walk faithfully and in doing so, we will not just imagine Christ’s love and humility; we will reflect it, embody it, and extend it to a world in need.
