From the Pastor's Desk A Thanksgiving Reminder

A Thanksgiving Reminder

Happy Thanksgiving! I sincerely hope that your Thanksgiving is a good one, filled with delicious food, good laughter, and rest. Take time today to give thanks – to thank God for all that God has given us. When you stop and reflect on all of the reasons we have to be thankful – it can just be overwhelming (in a good way!).

Sometimes we forget that.
And so sometimes we need a reminder.

I was reminded of this on Monday when we were handing out the Thanksgiving meals we packed and prepped for the families throughout the area who needed them. I wish you could have all been there to see the look on their faces when we kept coming, bag after bag, with a turkey, all the fixings, pies, ice cream, fresh fruit, other groceries, and more. So much gratitude.

It was so much – too much – for one person to carry it all that we had to drive him home with all the food (thanks Allen!).

It was a beautiful, and humbling, reminder of how much I have to be thankful for – as well as our calling to be generous with what we do have.

So on this Thanksgiving, take some time to notice those kinds of moments of gratitude, and express it yourself. Take time to reflect on all you have to be thankful for. Take time to be generous as well.

(And to all of you who helped pack, cook, hand out, organize, and deliver meals to those 11 families: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We'd love for you to
