All Things New!
Happy New Year’s (Eve)! Tomorrow is a day where, at least by the calendar, we start over: start the new year, start new resolutions, start again. We hope that things go better this year than last. We hope that we can do what we didn’t manage to last year. We look forward to a fresh, clean canvas for the year and hope that the picture that’s painted is a good one.
We hope that the new is better than the old.
In scripture, we get promises from God that God means to make new out of the old. In Isaiah 43, we hear a promise from God that
“I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth; do you not perceive it?”
In Revelation 21, we hear the audacious and unbelievable promise to look forward to,
“See, I am making all things new.”
Imagine that? All things!
So on this New Year’s Eve, I want to ask you a simple question: as you look forward to a new year,
what is one thing you hope God makes new in your life this year?
If he’s making all things new, maybe this is the year he’ll make that thing new for you. Think about it, pray about it, follow Jesus for it, wait for it.
