His Gospel is Peace!
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother,
and in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
let all within us praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! O praise His name forever!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!
His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim!
Merry Christmas Eve!
Above is the final verse from O Holy Night, where we sing that “His gospel is peace”. The good news – his good news, and the good news of Christmas – is ‘peace’.
Shalom.
Wrongs made right.
Hurts are healed.
Brokenness is restored.
Old made new.
Peace, on earth.
Christmas.
That’s what we’ve been talking about all Advent season, and tonight at 5PM, we’ll hear the conclusion to what it all means. I am looking forward to it, as I hope you are as well.
If I don’t get a chance to speak with you personally tonight: Merry Christmas. I am glad you are part of our church in whatever way you are, and we are better for having you.
