Introducing Our Next Generation Pastor
Hello Central Baptist Church,
I hope this post finds you well. I have something exciting to share that isn’t exactly new – but that we just have not yet ‘formally’ announced: Rebecca DeLucia has joined our staff as our new Next Generation Pastor. She was officially voted into this role at the Quarterly Business Meeting on July 23, and she began in this new role on August 1. Please join me in extending to her a heartfelt and joyful welcome!
I have worked with (and known) Rebecca for years, and I am personally excited for you to get to know her as well: who she really is, and what she’s really about. Her heart for Jesus, kids, and youth is matchless. I could not be more excited to be welcoming her, knowing how much she brings to our church and even to those in the Bayshore region who are not here (yet!).
As you most likely know, Rebecca has been working with us the Director Central Kids and Youth for the last few months, and ‘apprenticed’ with us at the end of last year. She comes to us with a BA in Education and History, an MA in Theology and Ministry (just completed at Fuller Theological Seminary!), and most importantly, a wealth of experience in ministry and education – having been a Children’s & Youth Ministry coordinator for four years in another local church, as well as a teacher, tutor, youth leader, and more. She grew up in Atlantic Highlands and is excited to be back to serve Central Baptist in reaching the Bayshore region with the good news of Jesus Christ. Her husband Dan, and sons Luke and Jacob, are very excited for this as well.
In the role of Next Generation Pastor, she will be responsible for developing, leading, and directing ministry towards and with those of the ‘next generation’ – i.e., from womb through emerging adulthood. She is excited to be fully able to step into this role: getting to know you on a deeper level, serving you, serving with you – and involving you in growing the ministries under her care!
As part of the service on Sunday September 10, we will pray over her and commission her for this ministry and role. And so until then, please join me in welcoming her! Please reach out to her at rebecca@cbcah.org, or on the church phone line, for any reason. Once things settle, we’ll put out more about her hours, availability, and so on.
And finally, as with all things we do: please pray. Pray for her and her leadership of kids, youth, and emerging adults. Pray for her family as they make this important transition along with her. Pray for our church as we take new steps to engage with youth and young families around us. Pray that God would cause seeds to sprout, and fruit to grow!
In Christ,
Matt Agresti
