From the Pastor's Desk Going South

Going South

I hope you’re doing well on this very-fall day. Chilly out there this morning! I wanted to use today’s “Central Thoughts” to remind you of some things, as well as let you know some new things. First, some quick reminders: Central Youth is this Tuesday at 7PM (spread the word!), we’re giving out BIG candy bars on Halloween (so sign up to help on Sunday at the back of the sanctuary, and bring in your big candy bars this Sunday!), and choir practice is tomorrow night.  We also have a new event to announce to kick off the Christmas season (see more below). We’ve got a lot of great things going on, and I for one, am excited.

There’s also something else ‘new’ going on that I want to make sure you know about.

Our secretary, Michele Spaeth, is excited to announce that she’ll be working remotely from Florida for the next 5+ months!

Her brother has generously invited her to live with him this winter, and she was eager to accept (and get away from our cold winters!).  She is leaving this Saturday to drive down there, will be back for about 2 weeks in mid-late December, and then be back in Florida from New Year’s until April 1. Please pray for her for safe travels, and to enjoy this unique opportunity she’s been given.

So what does this mean for us?

A few things. First, she’ll still be doing emails, checking voicemails, working with me, and so on. So for the most part, nothing will change. If you are used to calling her on the church line to get or give information, you’re probably going to want to email her instead. Feel free to call the church line, of course, and I will answer if I’m available. If no one answers, please leave a message – which we will check.

There will be, however, a few things that she can’t do from Florida – such as folding and putting out bulletins, putting away supplies that get delivered, and doing quick walk throughs to straighten up the sanctuary and hallways. So if you’re interested in helping fill some of those gaps, please let me know and we can work to figure out how.

We are also taking this time to transition to a new email address for the church (and Michele).

As of today, we are discontinuing use of the “cbcbeacon@aol.com” address, and instead, will be using info@cbcah.org as the primary church email address.

The “cbcbeacon@aol.com” address will be forwarded to the new address for awhile, but PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS BOOK with the new one (info@cbcah.org)! You can also reach Michele personally at michele@cbcah.org.

Finally, having a “remote” secretary for a few months could be a bit of an adventure (there’s a first time for everything!), so I’m asking you to do two things.  First, bear with us if communications fall through a crack…or if you feel like you’re falling through a crack. We think we have most impacted things figured out, but I’m sure we’re forgetting something!  And second, if there is too big a gap, a hole, or a crack for things to fall through, please let me know. Please don’t keep it a secret, let it fester, or take it personally….let me know so we can figure out how to fix it.

If you have any questions, issues, concerns, or ideas, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. And remember: pray for Michele and her time in Florida!

We'd love for you to
